I’ve got to tell you, when I moved to Richmond last year I had no idea how awesome the stand up comedy scene was! In just the past few months I’ve seen one of my absolute favorites, Tom Segura, and with his buddy Bert Kreischer. And most recently podcast legend Tim Dillon. It’s unreal. That said, I do feel as though I’ve been letting you down by not giving you the heads up when these folks are coming to our fair town. So I’m here today to rectify that. Read on for a few upcoming comedy shows in Richmond – at least the ones I care about!
Steve-O: The Bucket List Tour – Sunday, July 17
I can’t say I expected one of the stars of absurd TV show and movie series Jackass to make my list. But after listening to some comedy legends rave about his stand-up chops I don’t think I have a choice other than to see him for myself. Surprising no one, however, is the 18+ rating here. Tickets can be found from the Dominion Energy Center site and there are still some available as I’m typing this.
Brian Simpson: Short Wide Neck Tour – July 22, 23
I’m particularly pumped about this one after watching him on Netflix’s The Standups. The dude had me in stitches the entire time. Go spend a few minutes on Youtube then head on over to the Funny Bone and check him out.
Mark Normand – September 8-10
I won’t lie, this guy is an odd duck. Fortunately, he’s also hilarious! I first got a chance to hear him on the Protect our Parks podcast (do NOT watch in front of your kids) and he seems to be on the up and up. Mark will be at the Funny Bone in Short Pump for 3 nights, so you really have no excuse.
Whitney Cummings: Touch Me Tour – September 10
You’re probably familiar with Whitney, a long time legend in the female comedy scene. But she’s shed any need for a qualifier and is indisputably one of the biggest stand up draws in the game today. Her raunchy brand of comedy might not be for everybody, but it sure is for most! Whitney will be at The National for one night only – don’t miss out!
Chris Rock: Ego Death Tour – October 25, 26
I have no desire to get into recent events with this gent, but he’s hysterical, and that’s all I have to say about that. Check Rock out at The Altria Theater in October!
There you have it folks! You can check out the respective venue websites for more awesome comedians coming our way but these are the ones that have me most excited. Thanks for dropping in to find out a bit about the upcoming comedy shows in Richmond. I’ll be back next week with more random info that literally no one asked for. You’re welcome!
