Number One – Starbucks! April fools. What kind of credible blogger would I be if I had Starbies ranked that high? Don’t get me wrong – I have no problem grabbing an Americano on the fly. But my loyal readers (AKA my mom and dad) expect more out of me than that. So without further ado – here are my 3 choices for the best coffee in Charlottesville.*
*RIP Splendora’s.
In some particular order:
Green House Coffee
Crozet

I stumbled upon Green House when trying to deliver on a pre-home inspection promise of coffee to a lovely couple in quaint and cute Crozet (shout out to the Baileys!) – about 15-20 minutes from downtown Charlottesville. Their drinks are delicious, using local roaster Shenandoah Joe. But for me, it’s all about those massive breakfast sammies. The California Egg Sandwich checked all the right boxes and brought avocado mayo into my life. The staff has been utterly delightful every time I’ve stopped by, which is now every time I’m showing property in Crozet. They pride themselves on being a “neighborhood gathering place” and I can’t think of a better way to describe them. Make sure to stop by the next time you’re around. And don’t worry, they have a seamless process for ordering/picking up food and drinks during these very annoying Covid times.
Mudhouse Coffee
Charlottesville

No conversation about the best coffee in Charlottesville can forget to mention Mudhouse. My favorite thing about them? These folks know their stuff! Don’t be shy when walking through the doors of the Downtown Mall staple. Their extremely educated staff will gladly point you in the right directions based on you preferences. Mudhouse has a classic coffee shop feel with a super relaxing ambiance and a seemingly always near capacity dining (drinking?) room. If there aren’t any seats available just grab your Joe to go and stroll the outdoor pedestrian mall and window shop to your heart’s content!
My Kitchen
No, seriously! This one doesn’t get a picture because of the obvious, and I’m certainly not touting my own coffee making skills (I use a basic-as-can-be $15 coffee maker). But what I am here to tout is my absolute favorite coffee in the Greater Charlottesville Area – Wegman’s Breakfast Blend*! I’ve been addicted to this stuff for more than two years now and I seriously can’t get enough. It’s super strong, though my heavy hand might have something to do with that. It’s delicious, no sugar or milk necessary. And it even smells great! I love waking up to fragrance of a freshly brewed pot every morning. So yeah, not a traditional entry to what is becoming one of my semi-regular Top 3 lists – but I stand by it.
*I am not paid or sponsored by Wegman’s. That said, if they want to throw me some money, I would be SO down.
There you have it. My Top 3 favorite coffee spots in the area. I can’t recommend them highly enough. Get on over to the first two ASAP, but you’ll need a reservation for the third. I’m looking forward to seeing what Richmond has to offer in the coming months too. In the meantime, if there is anything you really want to hear my incredibly unqualified opinion on – shoot me a message! And if you’re super bored feel free to check out my blog for more useful info on Central Virginia.
